State police in Fayette County are investigating the hanging and burning of three dogs in a remote area off Grindstone Road in Redstone.
According to police, members of the Grindstone Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of a fire shortly after 5 a.m. yesterday [March 13, 2008]. Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters said, they found three dead dogs hanging by ropes from a tree over several burning tires.
"We don't know if the dogs were hung alive," said Theresa Linden, manager with the Fayette County Humane Society. "We found one still hanging."
Ms. Linden said she did not know what happened to the other two dogs that the firefighters reported finding.
"The kids [responsible] must have come back and took two, but we got the one dog," said Ms. Linden, who described the dog as a German shepherd mix. "And we found a pentagram on the ground. Like devil worship."
Ms. Linden said there had to be more than one person involved, "because the dog that we found, when I lifted it, it was heavy. It had to go about 75 pounds. And the back of it was burned off. And there were puncture holes in its neck. It was just a really bad scene." References« PA State Animal Cruelty Map « More cases in Fayette County, PA
