The reward for information leading to the capture and conviction of the abusers of little Valentine, the horribly-injured little 10-month-old Pit Bull puppy who dragged herself to a cement plant seeking help, is now up to $5000. This is based on information provided to me from the people at PetConnectUs, who have been helping to get the word out about this precious little girl.

Valentine had additional surgery yesterday and is reported to be recovering well. She is frightened, but wags her tail and wants to give only love to her caregivers. Bear Valley Animal Hospital has received donations in the range of $10,000 so far for her care, which is an amazing reflection of the compassionate outpouring from advocates everywhere when they heard about her story.

Valentine was found on February 10th when she literally dragged her battered little body to a cement plant in Lucerne Valley. Her mouth was tightly taped shut with duct tape. Her front paw was dangling by only a piece of skin and the other one broken. Her skull was fractured, most likely from being hit with a large rock. She was covered in road rash, indicating she had been tied to the bumper of a car and dragged. Her little tummy was full of nothing but rocks and dirt, indicating she had been starved and tried to fill the ache of hunger with anything she could find.

Someone has to know who did this to little Valentine. If you have any information at all that could help catch the perpetrators of this heinous act of cruelty and abuse, please contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department at the following contact:

The information provided to me is that the Sounds of Silent Spirits will be coordinating Valentine's care, recovery and eventual placement into a new loving forever home once she has healed. You can access the website they have set up to post updates about precious Valentine here or at the link provided below.

Hopefully the offer of such a substantial reward will motivate someone who has the information about the perpetrators of the abuse on little Valentine to come forward. These monsters need to be brought to justice for the agony and terror this innocent little girl suffered for what was most likely her entire life, with maximum sentences handed down once convicted.

Once those responsible have been caught, any petitions for justice will be made available here for signatures as soon as they are drawn up.

Valentine has a long road ahead of her, but clearly she has touched the hearts of advocates from around the world with virtual candles being lit for her from 9 different countries. Thanks to the outpouring of generosity from advocates, Valentine will get the very best life has to offer from here on out.

Case Updates

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with animal cruelty after allegedly dragging a 10-month-old blue pitbull.

The boy, whose name was not released, is believed to have caused the debilitating injuries to a puppy since renamed Valentine, according to San Bernardino Sheriff's officials.

Valentine was found on Feb. 10 in a rural area of Lucerne Valley, limping with black plastic tape wrapped around her muzzle. She had a partially severed right front paw, broken left front paw, burns to her face and front legs and a skull fracture.

An investigation led to the teen suspect's home in Lucerne Valley, where detectives conducted a search and arrested the boy. He remains in custody at Apple Valley Juvenile Detention Center.

The teen was charged with two felony counts of animal cruelty and arson.

Valentine is recovering well and will soon be placed for adoption, according to sheriff's officials.
