A Torrington man, accused of slapping a woman and seriously injuring her two Siamese cats on March 7, was ordered held on $50,000 bond on Friday in Bantam Superior Court.
Tyrone Bullock, 32, a construction worker, was arrested on the night of March 9 by Torrington police on a warrant charging him with third-degree assault and two counts of animal cruelty. Judge Heidi Winslow ordered Bullock to return to court on March 29.
"The cats were in fine shape when he left the apartment, he said," Bullocks attorney, James Longwell said.
A 20-year-old Torrington woman reported to police that she argued with Bullock, because he allegedly abused her cats Zeus and Egyptian on Monday, according to the warrant. Bullock was reportedly home with the animals on March 6 but she didnt find them until the next morning. Their mouths were swollen and bloody and their teeth were broken, she said. The animals were walking with difficulty and remained motionless most of the day, according to police.
The victim found the bathtub partially filled with water and loaded with cat fur. She found blood on the bathroom and living room walls, she said, and bloody cloths with cat feces in the trash. The woman said she previously witnessed Bullock kick, choke and throw things at the animals. Two years ago, Zeus was treated for a broken hind leg and Egyptian sustained lumps on its head and had bloodshot eyes from being choked, according to the warrant.
Officer John Lemieux reported finding a plastic hair dryer that was broken open with tiny teeth marks on the exhaust end of the appliance.
Bullock reportedly called police asking if he would be arrested, Lemieux said in the warrant.
"This whole thing is over those stupid cats because I kicked one of them," he allegedly told the officer.
Zeuss teeth were broken, and he sustained abrasions on his head and body, according to Dr. Peter Humphrey the veterinarian who treated the animals. The doctors report, cited in the warrant, said the animals claws were worn down as if it was clawing to defend itself.
Egyptian suffered detached retinas and a concussion with blindness. The animal was unresponsive to sound, according to Humphreys report. References« CT State Animal Cruelty Map
